Glenn Herndon is one of the rotating teachers in the Koinonia Sunday school class. He retired from the American Bible Society after 27 years. Prior to that, he and wife, Pat, served as missionaries to Colombia for five years. They have been members of Smoke Rise for 18 years. Glenn says his favorite thing about teaching is the relationships that form with members of the class and witnessing the way they love and support each other. In his words: “The experience of teaching reminds me of the words of T.S. Eliot when he said, “Old men ought to be explorers.” The class members both men and women always amaze me because they are explorers in growing their faith stronger.”
An added bonus for Glenn about the class is that they still sing a hymn before the lesson begins – a tradition taken from another era.
