Many people have asked questions about how the Smoke Rise Media Center works. Here is the first installment of common questions and answers that will acquaint our members with the opportunities that our media center offers.
When is the Media Center open?
It is open on Wednesday nights from 5:00-7:00 PM and Sunday mornings from 9:30-11:00 AM. Since it is a self-serve facility, it can also be accessed during the week when the church office is open. If the door is locked, the church office staff can unlock it for you, and you can check out items by following the directions posted on the desk.
What Can I find in the Media Center?
The Media Center contains a collection of non-fiction and fiction books, DVDs, and CDs with a focus on religious topics. There are collections for children and adults. Materials include:
- Sets of books for individual and group Bible studies
- Devotional books
- Children’s Bible Stories on DVDs and Family Movies
- Picture books, including Bible stories
- Biographies for adults and young people
How do I check out a book or DVD?
Each item has a check-out card located on a pocket in the back of a book or on the outside of a DVD. Sign the card with your name and phone number, change the date-due stamp to 3 weeks from the present date, stamp the date beside your name, stamp a blue date-due card, and place it in the pocket of the item to remind you when it’s due. Place the signed check-out card in the designated slot in the plastic container on the desk.
