Hats off to Paula Reeves! She joined the Smoke Rise Baptist Weekday School staff in 1981 as a teacher of our 3 year olds. After being home with her children, she returned to teach Older 2’s and Kindergym in 1987. She served as Assistant Director from 1994-2001, becoming the Director in June 2001.
After 27 years, Paula is retiring.
It was not unusual to see Paula reading to the students, leading a Mother Goose parade, letting the kids comb and put curlers in her hair on Pajama Day, wearing a Frosty costume or serving as a circus ringmaster. She drove the kindergarteners to skating lessons, held sick children, managed their boo-boos and called each child and parent by name.
Paula’s first concern has always been the children. She was committed to a “play oriented” preschool where the children felt secure, happy and comforted by the teachings of God’s love.
Paula’s love for the Weekday School will always be remembered. It was a great joy in her life and she always thought of the school as her mission. This resulted in many young families joining the church.
We wish God’s richest blessing for her as she begins this next chapter in her life.
