My husband Joel and I became members of SRBC in 1979. Our two children, Andrea and David, grew up in this church and participated in the children and youth ministries. Since retiring from teaching in Gwinnett County in 2009, I have been involved with the ladies Appalachian mission trips as well as other mission projects with the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class and Fellowship Circle. It is my hope that in 2015 our deacons will continue to lead by serving others in our congregation and our community. Ways of serving our congregation are through communion, Deacon Family Ministry, outreach to visitors, shepherding and role modeling.
I am looking forward to the deacon body beginning an ongoing ministry at the Lakeside Apartments in Clarkston with Bennett Ekandem. We are called to be the presence of Christ by loving God and loving our neighbors. Service lies at the heart of the deacon ministry at SRBC. I am honored to be serving as your deacon chair and looking forward to all that God will do in and through Smoke Rise Baptist Church this year.
