1. Each day, create a time for your family to read Christ’s stories.

Smoke Rise offers several ways that you can provide opportunities for family devotions during Advent. Work through your family Jesse Tree. Read from Shine! or the Jesus Story Book Bible. Follow the Smoke Rise Children’s Facebook page for a different devotion each day during Advent. (John 1:1)

2.  Give to someone that may never be able to give back in return.
Giving to each other is nice, but God called us to give food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty and to welcome the stranger. Allow your family to fulfill Christ’s call this Advent. (Matthew 25)

3. Study your family history.

Spend time together looking through old photo albums and teach the younger members of your family the history of your family. Discuss how your family is like and different from Jesus’ family. (Matthew 1:1-17)

4. Spend an evening slowing down.

Turn off your computers, iPads, iPods, television and phones. Spend an evening baking cookies, playing board games and reading books as a family. At the end of your slow down family evening read the story of Jesus’ birth. (Luke 2:1-20)
